Back in Black…

or rather with 3 Lions on the shirt!

It’s been a while, about 18 months or so.

Life always presents us with changes and challenges, and like the recently (re-)elected 92 year-old Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, joked, ‘Yes, yes I am still alive’.

Anyways that is all history now, at least some of it, as is the 3 Lions qualifying campaign. Now it’s time for preparation and then action!

Safe Hands

First up is for Gareth to name the men on the plane. It must be the first time for a while that the safety of knowing who’ll be England’s No. 1 is missing, with Butland and Pickford looking likely contenders ahead of Joe Hart.

Football is a simple game …. not exactly as the illustrious Gary Lineker once said , but in scoring more goals than you concede, so this is a key position and one that, in the past, has often been without doubt.

The rest of the park

So if England’s No. 1 isn’t a foregone conclusion who is guaranteed a place on the plane. Hmmm, Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and Kyle Walker should be racing certainties. Tomorrow Gareth will name his initial squad.

30 days to go, and 33 till the 3 Lions start their typical roller coaster campaign! Watch this space…
